All Susan Shaw's jewelry is 24K hand-cast gold or hand-cast sterling-caster plated. Handcasting is a method of hand plating that produces consistent, high-quality results that are far superior to standard machine plating. Each piece is coated with three layers of 24K gold or sterling silver and is plated over a lead-free, nickel-free base metal.

**Is Your Pearl Jewelry Real?**  

None of Susan Shaw's jewelry incorporates plastic materials. All items feature genuine freshwater pearls or semi-precious stones, including turquoise, quartz, coral, onyx, and agate. The cotton pearl collection, however, is unique and differs from genuine pearls. A cotton pearl consists of a tightly wound cotton inner layer encased in a paper-maché-like outer layer, making them extremely lightweight. This design allows for larger-looking pearls without the bulk.

**How Long Are the Necklaces and Bracelets?**  

The short necklaces typically measure 16 inches and include a 3-inch extender chain, allowing for a comfortable fit of 16 to 19 inches. Longer chains usually measure 30 inches.

**How Do I Clean My Susan Shaw Jewelry?**  

To ensure the longevity of all jewelry, including Susan Shaw's, avoid spraying alcohol-based products (such as perfume or hairspray) directly onto the pieces, as these can gradually damage the gold or silver plating. To maintain the original state of your jewelry, it's best to apply these products before putting on any jewelry. To clean, use a dry microfiber cloth.
